Task dialog box

Tasks

A task is an atomic activity that participates in a process. Tasks represent a process activity that cannot be broken down into sub-activities.

There exist three sub-types of "Task":

·         "LoopTasks"

·         "MultipleInstanceTasks"

·         "CompensationTasks"

The "Task" dialog box contains three tabs - "Common", "Simulation" and "Parameter".

The "Common" tab of the "Task" dialog box

The "Common" tab of the "Task" dialog box is used to enter general information relative to a task.

Key:

·         "Name": This field indicates the name of the task.

·         "TaskType": This field represents the type of the task.  A task can have one of the following types:

o        None

o        Service

o        Receive

o        Send

o        User

o        Script

o        Manual

o        Reference

·         "Implementation": This field appears if the "TaskType" has been defined as "Service", "Receive", "Send" or "Implementation".  The "Implementation" field defines the implementation type associated with this service.  It can take one of the following values:

o        WebService

o        Other

o        Unspecified

·         "Instanciate": This field appears if the "TaskType" has been defined as "Receive".  The  "Instanciate" field is a boolean indicating whether or not the task can be considered as being an instanciation mechanism.

·         "Script": This field appears if the "TaskType" has been defined as "Script".  The "Script" field defines a script that is run when the task is run.

·         "Performers": This field appears if the "TaskType" has been defined as "Manual".  The "Performers" field defines the human resource who will realize the task.

·         "Task Reference": This field appears if the "TaskType" has been defined as "Reference". The "Task Reference" field is used to reference another task.

The "Simulation" tab of the "Task" dialog box

The "Simulation" tab of the "Task" dialog box is used to enter information relative to the simulation of the task.

Key:

·         "Status" : This field represents the status of the task during a simulation. It can be determined when the process is run by an execution engine, and can have one of the following values:

o        None

o        Ready

o        Active

o        Cancelled

o        Aborting

o        Aborted

o        Completing

o        Completed

·         "Start Quantity": This field is used to define the number of occurrences of a task during a simulation.
