Communication
messages
A communication message is a message exchanged by two communication nodes. It may represent an actual operation or signal.
The "Communication message" dialog box contains four tabs - "Properties", "Notes", "Tagged values" and "Stereotypes". For information on these standard dialog box tabs, please see "Standard dialog box tabs".
The "Properties" tab of the "Communication message" dialog box
The "Properties" tab of the "Communication message" dialog box is used to enter values for a communication message.

The "Properties" tab of the "Communication message" dialog box
Key:
· "Name": This indicates the name of the communication message. This name must be unique in the model.
· "Argument": This is the argument(s) of the invoked operation (visible in a diagram only where the message represents an actual invoked operation).
· "Sequence number": Ordering number used to define the calling sequence in the communication diagram.
· "Invoked operation": This is the operation whose invocation is represented by the message. This takes priority over the "Sent signal" field if both are valued.
· "Sent signal": This is the signal whose sending is represented by the message. This is overridden by the "Invoked operation" field if both are valued.
