Using your diagram templates

Packaging an MDA component

In order to be able to use the J MDA component you have just modeled in Objecteering UML Modeler, it must first be packaged.

To package a J MDA component, select the “DiagramTemplateComponent” J MDA component in the explorer and click on the  icon located in the “MDA” tab of the “Auxiliary window”.

The “MDA component packaging” window (Figure 75) appears. It is not necessary to change the information appearing in this window's entry fields. To package your J MDA component so that it can be used in Objecteering UML Modeler, simply confirm the packaging command by clicking on the “OK” button.

After confirmation of the information appearing in the above window, the command is run and a file corresponding to the J MDA component is generated. This file is named "DiagramTemplateComponent_V1.0.00.mdac" and is produced in the “C:\Program Files\Objecteering\mdastore” directory, as specified in the above window.

Installing and using your new diagram template

Before using the newly packaged J MDA component, the following steps must be carried out:

·         A new project must be created in Objecteering UML Modeler.

·         Your newly developed J MDA component must be deployed in the project (for more information, please see “Working with MDACs”).

When the MDARuntime MDAC has been selected, a specific command, “Launch diagram template”, appears in the “Extensions” menu. Using this command, you can select the diagram template you want to use.

You can choose from standard templates and templates you have developed yourself (for more details, please see “Running templates”).
