FAQ
Does the Objecteering plug-in for Eclipse run a special version of Objecteering?
No. Objecteering for Eclipse lets Eclipse run Objecteering in a “session”, referred to as a perspective. Everything you can do when using Objecteering independently, you can also do using the Objecteering for Eclipse plug-in, which means that you must have already installed Objecteering before using it in Eclipse.
Are the round trip engineering (RTE) or model driven engineering (MDE) modes available in the Objecteering Java Developer MDA component?
Yes. You can select either of these functioning modes when configuring the Java Developer MDA component in Objecteering.
By default, the Java Developer MDA component functions in RTE mode. The Eclipse environment notifies Objecteering of any modifications to the source code following modifications made to the model, and signals that the model has been modified after substantial modification of the corresponding source code.
Do I need to have a special version of Eclipse to be able to use the Objecteering for Eclipse plug-in?
No, you do not need a special version. At this time, the official version of Eclipse is version 3.2.
Are there any particular requirements for using the Objecteering for Eclipse plug-in?
Yes, we recommend that you have at least 1Go of memory on your workstation, in order to facilitate the smooth running of Eclipse with Objecteering. You also have to specify an Eclipse workspace outside your Eclipse installation directory.
Can I work on a modeling project realized using the Objecteering for Eclipse plug-in from Objecteering itself (without Eclipse)?
Yes. The Objecteering project has the “.ofp” extension. However, please note that it is not saved by Eclipse in the Objecteering default directory. An Objecteering project is copied or moved like a simple file. An Objecteering project created using the plug-in is used in exactly the same way in a classic Objecteering configuration.
