Creating or opening a diagram

Creating a diagram

Several model elements can own associated diagrams, and these diagrams can all be created through the corresponding icons in the explorer icon palette.

The diagram creation process is identical for all diagram types, although not all diagram types can be created for all model elements (please see the table in "Introducing Objecteering diagrams").

The figure below illustrates the creation of a class diagram.

Creating a class diagram

Steps:

  1. In the explorer, select the element for which you want to create the new diagram.
  2. Left-click on the  icon and slide the mouse to the left, while holding down the left mouse button.  This opens the sub-palette of possible diagrams that can be created.  Select the  "Create a class diagram" icon.
  3. The new diagram is then immediately created and opened in the work view.

Opening a diagram

When a new diagram is created, it is automatically opened in the work view window.

To open an existing diagram, you can simply double-click on the diagram in the Objecteering explorer.

If you try to open a diagram that is already open, the diagram in question is brought to the foreground in the work view window.
