The output window

What is the output window?

The output window is made up of the "Console" tab and the "Audit" tab.

The "Console" tab provides a trace of all the operations carried out, while the "Audit" tab displays information on the result of the consistency checks automatically run by Objecteering Modeler.

In the output window, you can:

·         view operation traces in the "Console" tab

·         move around in the operation trace using the scroll bars

·         view information messages, warnings and errors in the "Audit" tab

·         copy the content of the output window (via the flyover toolbar)

·         clear the content of the output window (via the flyover toolbar)

·         save the content of the output window into a file (via the flyover toolbar)

·         automatically hide the output window (via the flyover toolbar)

The "Audit" tab

Objecteering Modeler automatically carries out an audit of the model you are building, and the results of this audit are displayed in the "Audit" tab of the output window.

The "Audit" tab of the output window

Each line of the audit result provides you with information on the success or failure of an audit operation, along with an icon used to represent the type of message (and where relevant the severity of the problem encountered):

·         The  icon indicates that the information presented is simply for your information.

·         The  icon signifies a warning message, which you can choose to take into account or not.

·         The  icon indicates that a non-fatal error has been encountered.  You can subsequently choose to react to this warning or not.

The  icon is used for fatal error messages.  These messages appear in an independent window as soon as the problem is encountered, and are not displayed in the "Audit" tab of the output window.

All the information displayed in the "Audit" tab is remembered until you exit Objecteering.  In the case of errors, the audit message is displayed until the issue in question has been corrected.

The flyover toolbar

When you move the cursor over the top right-hand corner of the output window, the so-called flyover toolbar appears.  This toolbar contains four icons, used to run operations concerning the output window itself.

The  "Copy the entire contents of the output window" icon copies all the text appearing in the output window.  You can then copy this text into another document.

The  "Clear the contents of the output window" icon clears all the text appearing in the output window.

The  "Save the contents of the output window in a file" icon opens the "Save as" window, where you can define the name and location of the file in which the contents of the output window will be saved.

The  "Authorize or not the automatic hiding of the output window" icon is used to indicate whether or not you want the output window to be hidden when it is not being used.  If the output window is hidden, it will reappear every time a message appears.
