Glossary
· Artifact: A physical piece of information that is used or produced by a development process. Examples of artifacts include models, source files, scripts and binary executable files. An artifact may constitute the implementation of a deployable component.
· Auxiliary window: This window contains a number of tabs, each with a specific function. The "Auxiliary properties" tab contains icons used to create terminal elements. Specific tabs providing appear when certain MDACs are deployed, providing associated functions.
· Configuration: A project environment, in terms of deployed MDACs and parameter values given to these MDACs. A chosen configuration can be saved as a project type.
· Consistency checks: Mechanisms providing assisted data entry, consistency management and consistency check functions, used to guarantee model consistency. These can be removable (checks which may be activated or deactivated by the user, according to his modeling context) or obligatory.
· Diagram: The graphic representation of a collection of model elements.
· Dialog boxes: The window in which model element information is entered and modified.
· Dockable windows: Windows which can be positioned and docked wherever you wish inside the Objecteering workspace.
· Explorer: The tool that presents the entire project on all its levels.
· Fast link editor: The fast link editor is used to display, create and modify the use, inheritance and traceability links that exist for an element selected in the explorer.
· Flyover toolbar: This is the toolbar that appears briefly when the user passes the cursor slowly over the top right-hand corner of the window in question.
· Grouped icons: Certain icons in the explorer and diagram palettes group several different icons together. These can be identified by a small black arrow at the bottom right-hand corner. By passing the cursor over the arrow, you open the associated icon sub-palette of grouped icons.
· Main window: The main window consists of the project view, the toolbar and the menu bar.
· MDA Component (MDAC): Group of independently-packaged services, which can be deployed in Objecteering Modeler.
· Model component (RAMC): A single file, suffixed ".ramc", containing an extract of a complete project model, external files and tagged value and note types.
· Model element: A specific type of modeling unit, for example, a package or a class.
· Output window: The output window provides a trace of operations carried out in Objecteering Modeler, as well information on possible errors encountered.
· Project repository: This is the Multi-user storage form of a project.
· Project type: A project file can be saved as a project type to be reused as often as required. This is a personal configuration of the modeling environment by the user. Project types contain the MDACs of the user's choice preinstalled and preconfigured.
· Project view: This consists of the five Objecteering windows (the main explorer, the auxiliary window, the fast link editor, the work view window and the output window).
· Read-only mode: Mode in which model elements cannot be added, modified or deleted.
· Structural elements: Elements found in the palette of the explorers and of the diagrams.
· Sub-explorer: Elements in the main explorer or in diagrams can be opened in a new sub-explorer through a context menu command.
· Terminal elements: Elements which cannot be broken down, generally created and located in the "Auxiliary property" tab of the auxiliary window.
· UML model root: The original package to which all other elements will be added. This corresponds to the UML notion of a model.
· Work view window: The window used to display diagrams and sub-explorers.
