Using Open Office with Objecteering Scope Manager

Introduction

The main purpose of coupling Open Office to Objecteering Scope Manager is to provide you with a means of marking elements in an existing Open Office document as being Objecteering Scope Manager project elements.  The Word document can then be generated as an XML file, which can subsequently be imported into Objecteering Scope Manager, so as to automatically build the corresponding Objecteering Scope Manager project.

Using the "Scope.uno.zip" model, it is possible to mark elements in the Word document as being:

·         requirement containers

·         requirements

·         dictionaries

·         terms

·         goal containers

·         goals

·         business rule containers

·         business rules

Getting started

To be able to prepare your existing Open Office document for export into Objecteering Scope Manager, the first step is to add the "Scope.uno.zip" package to the document, as shown in the screenshot below.

Adding the "Scope.uno.zip" package to your existing Open Office installation

1.      After clicking on the "Tools/Package manager…" menu in Open Office, the "Package manager" window appears.  To add the required uno.zip file, click on the "Add" button.  The "Add package(s)" window then appears.

2.      Browse the explorer to locate the "Scope.uno.zip " package file, which is found in the "res" directory of the "Scope Manager" MDAC, itself located in the "mdaplugs" directory of your Objecteering installation.

3.      Click on "OK".

The result of this operation is shown below.

For information on using the Scope Manager toolbar, please see "Introduction to using Word with Objecteering Scope Manager" and the sections which follow.

Differences compared to the Word version of the tool bar:

·         There is no round-trip support between OpenOffice and Objecteering Scope Manager, but there is full support for extracting Scope elements from an OpenOffice document into the Scope Manager MDA component.

·         There are no show/hide markers features.
