Creating Scope elements
Creating a Scope structuring element
With Objecteering Scope Manager, you can create four different types of Scope structuring element:
· Dictionaries, which will contain terms
· Requirement containers, which will contain requirements
· Goal containers, which will contain goals
· Business rule containers, which will contain business rules
The procedure for creating any of these Scope structuring elements is the same:
1.
Select the appropriate tab in
the explorer (the
tab
if you want to create a requirement container, a goal container or a business
rule container, and the
tab
if you want to create a dictionary).
2. Select the element inside which you want to create the new Scope structuring element.
3. Click on the icon corresponponding to the type of structuring element you want to create.
4. The new element then appears, and you can enter a name for it.
The icons used to create Scope structuring elements are as follows:

The example shown below illustrates the creation of a requirement container.

Creating a new requirement container
Steps:
1.
In the
tab of the explorer, click on the requirement
container inside which you wish to create another requirement container.
2.
Click on the
"Add a requirement container" icon.
3. Enter a name for your new requirement container.
Creating a Scope element
Now that we've seen that there are four types of Scope structuring element, it will not surprise you to learn that there are four types of basic Scope element:
· Terms, which are created inside dictionaries
· Requirements, which are created inside requirement containers
· Goals, which are created inside goal containers
· Business rules, which are created inside business rule containers
There are four ways of creating any Scope element:

In the relevant tab of the
explorer (the
tab
if you want to create a requirement, a goal or a business rule, and the
tab
if you want to create a term)
· Directly in a Scope editor using the relevant command ("New requirement", "New goal", "New business rule" or "New term").
· By pressing the "Insert" key in a Scope editor.
· By pressing the "Tabulation" key in the last column and last row (in other words, the bottom right-hand cell) in a Scope editor.
The icons used to create Scope elements are as follows:

The following example illustrates the creation of a term in a dictionary.

Creating a term in the explorer
Steps:
1.
In the
tab of the explorer, click on the dictionary
inside which you wish to create a new term.
2.
Click on the
"Create a term" icon.
3. Type a name for the new term.
Let's now take a look at the creation of the same element, but this time in the Scope editor.

Creating a term in the Scope editor
Steps:
1. Right-click in the Scope editor to display the "New term" command.
2.
Click on this command. A new
term automatically appears in the Scope editor.
Notice that the
tab
of the explorer is automatically updated after creation of this new term.
Note: A new term could also have been created by pressing the "Insert" key, or by positioning yourself in the bottom right-hand cell of the Scope editor and pressing the "Tabulation" key.
