Modifying Scope elements in the dedicated editors

Scope elements and their properties can be modified in their dedicated Scope editor.

 

Scope editors can contain several different types of field:

·         simple text fields, notably used for the names of Scope elements

·         multiple choice fields, where the user has the choice of three or more possible values for a property

·         definition fields, used to enter textual descriptions of Scope elements

 

This section will take a look at how to edit the information presented in each of these different types of fields.

Editing simple fields (text fields or numerical fields)

To edit the information contained in a simple field (in particular, the name of a Scope element), simply carry out the steps shown in the screenshot below.

 

Modifying the name of a requirement directly in the Scope editor

 

Steps:

1.      Double-click on the element whose name is to be changed.  The field then becomes active and you can type the new name directly over the old one.

 

Note:      You can also activate the edit mode for a given field by selecting the field you wish to modify and pressing F2.

 

 

Editing multiple choice fields

To change your choice in a multiple choice field, simply carry out the steps shown in the following graphic.

Steps:

1.      Click on the multiple choice field you wish to modify. A downward arrow automatically appears.  To modify your selection, simply hold down the mouse button and drag the cursor until your new choice is highlighted in blue.  When you release the mouse button, your selection is validated.

 

Note:      If you click on the right-hand side of the multiple choice field where the arrow would appear, the combobox automatically drops open, without you having to actively click on the downward arrow.

 

 

Editing definition fields

To edit a definition field, simply carry out the steps shown in the screenshot below.

Steps:

1.      Click over the definition you wish to modify.  A large window then appears, in which you can freely enter a definition for the Scope element in question.

 

Note:      If you wish to display the complete definitions for Scope elements, you can simply click on the arrows on the left-hand side of the elements, or else you can click on the  "Expand/Shrink all rows in editor" icon to show the complete descriptions of all the Scope elements in the editor.

 

 

To add a carriage return in a definition field, simply press "Shift" and "Enter".

 

To add a tabulation, simply press "Shift" and "Tabulation".
