Exchanging Scope Admin properties

Externalizing Scope Admin properties

The "Scope Admin/Externalize properties" command is used to externalize properties you have developed, in order to make them available to other developers.

To externalize your properties, simply carry out the steps shown in the screenshot below.

Externalizing properties

Steps:

1.      In the  tab of the explorer, click on the root Scope Admin element.

2.      In the context menu which appears, run the "Scope Admin/Externalize properties" command.  This command is only available on the root Scope element.

3.      In the "Browse for folder" window which then appears, select the directory into which you wish to externalize properties.

4.      Click on "OK" to confirm.

The properties externalization operation is then run.  You can follow its progress in the output window.

After the externalization operation, two directories appear in the location designated in the "Browse for folder" window.  The "PropertySet" directory contains the different externalized property sets, and the "PropertyType" directory contains the externalized enumerated property types.

These property sets, properties and enumerated property types can now be internalized by other users for subsequent use in their projects (see below).

Internalizing Scope Admin properties

The "Scope Admin/Internalize properties" command is used to internalize properties developed by a third party, in order to make them available in your project.

This command can be used irrespective of whether or not you have already developed Scope elements in your project.

To internalize properties and be able to use them in the context of your project, simply carry out the steps shown in the screenshot below.
